ActivitiesWe at NordGen want to stimulate interest in safeguarding Nordic plant, farm animal and forest species. We therefore participate in public debates on biodiversity and in a range of relevant events. We participate in scientific seminars and conferences and we invite others to our own events. See more under Plants , Farm Animals and Forest . Our work is highly specialized, but our material is easy to relate to. Many local producers are interested in cultivation and conservation of different crops and old animal land-races. Modern cooks and small local producers, together with researchers, have identified new opportunities for old species. Issues of health, taste and use can be combined, and the food industry follows this developments with great interest. Coming activitiesNordGen Farm Animals and The Agricultural University of Iceland are hosting a workshop on the Socio-economic and Cultural Values of Farm Animal Breeds, 7-9th of September in Iceland.
