Grain Legumes

Grain legumes are an important protein source used for humans and animals. The transformation of air nitrogen (in the symbiosis with Rhizobium) makes them useful in low input farming and horticulture as organic farming.

Heritage peas and beans from the Nordic countries are included in the collection. The Swedish material was donated by the Swedish Seed Call, POM. The collection also includes old commercial cultivars from the Nordic countries. We have distribution of this material.

An extensive international collection of peas (Pisum Genetic Stock), is included. The material was donated by Stig Blixt. A copy of the collection is found in the UK, and they have the main distribution from the collection.
