Apply for a NordGen Forest Scholarship!

NordGen Forest grants a sum each year to encourage education and knowledge exchange within our field of work in the Nordic countries.

1. General

The scholarships should contribute to common Nordic benefit by supporting education, continuing education and knowledge exchange for persons working or studying within forest seed or plant production, regeneration methods and tree breeding in the Nordic countries.

2. Activities supported by the scholarship

Primarily, the grant should be used to cover travelling costs, board and lodging in connection with education or knowledge exchange within the fields mentioned in point 1. You can also apply for a scholarship to cover running expenses for bachelor or master theses, for instance for equipment, laboratory expenses, or printing of reports. If several applications are received, employees within forest seed and plant production and breeding will generally be given preference over students.

The activity in question MUST be relevant in a Nordic setting, and contribute to a common Nordic benefit within the fields mentioned above. The main part of the activity must take place after the application deadline.

3. Scholarship amount and period

The scholarship will cover economic accommodation and travel expenses. Maximum amount is 15000 NOK. The activity must be finished within 1 year from the granting of the scholarship.

4. Application

The application should include personal information and a plan including objectives, schedule and budget for the trip or project, as well as a description of how the acquired knowledge will be disseminated. The applicant must give an account of the scientific or practical value of the trip or project.

The application deadline is 25 February. The application can be written in a Nordic language or in English. Send your application to the NordGen Forest secretariat by Kjersti Bakkebø Fjellstad, Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute, P.O. Box 115, N-1431 Ås, Norway, or by e-mail to kjersti.fjellstad@nordgen.org . The applications are considered by the NordGen Forest Council and the secretariat, who will inform all candidates about the result. If too few relevant applications are received within the deadline, applications received after the deadline will also be considered.

5. Reporting

A short report is to be sent to the NordGen Forest secretariat no later than 1 month after the trip or project is finished. The report should include an evaluation of whether the objectives were reached, the scientific and/or practical value of the trip or project, and a description of possible results if the scholarship is used for research or development projects. A summary of the accounts should also be attached.

Results that are of common interest may later be published on NordGen’s web site, after further agreement
