EVA workshop in Riga in June 2012NordGen Farm Animals is arranging a workshop "Managing small populations with pedigree and/or genomic information" in Riga, Latvia 13th-15th of June 2012. This workshop is targeted for all animal breeding specialists in the Nordic and Baltic countries. During this workhop the participants will get an introduction on the theory of genetic contributions and the control of rates of genetic gain and inbreeding by controlling genetic contributions of individuals. A new version of EVA (EVolutionary Algorithms) software, allowing for the use of relationships based on either pedigree and/or genetic markers, will be introduced. Additionally, participants establish experience in using EVA and interpreting results based on hands-on exercises. Registration deadline for this workshop is 11th of May.
