Ph.D Dissertation

Title:  Translucent and leathery scales in bulb onion (Allium cepa  L.). Supervisors:  Gudmund Balvoll and Steinar Dragland, Committee:  Zsusanne Füstros and Gunnar Guttormsen. Place:  University of Life Sciences, Ås, Norway, 1997.

1993-97:     PhD courses in crop physiology, plant pathology, organic agriculture, integrated vegetable production, University of Life Sciences

1983-89:     Master degree (cand.agric.) with focus on Plant and Soil sciences, University of Life Sciences. Master thesis: “Undersøkelse av jordsmonnet i Storbekkenfeltet”.

1991:      Pedagogic seminar (half year unit), Hedmark University College, Elverum.

Work experience

2007 -       Nordic Genetic Resource Center, Alnarp, Sweden, with focus on gene bank work, regeneration, project management, with a specific focus on vegetables, medicinal plants and potato.

2003-2006:    Farmers Union Vestfold, project manager for the national pilot project on organic seed production.

1997-2005:    Associated professor, (20-50%) at Hedemark University College.

1997-2003:    Lecturer (20-80%) at Vinterlandbruksskolen (Natur videregåående skole), Oslo.

1989-1997:    Research assistant and project management at Bioforsk Kise, Bioforsk Økologisk (Tingvoll) and Landbrukets forsøksringer (FØKO, Elverum).

1981-1982:    Volunteer at Norwegian Church Aid, working with tree planting and nursery production of seedlings in Gamu Gofa, Ethiopia.

Academic teaching experience

• Hedmark University College, Blæstad: Soil Ecology, Plant Production. Campus lectures and web based lectures and facilitator on bachelor level, examination responsibility in Soil Ecology.
