Ban Ki-Moon on SvalbardThe UN General sekretary Ban Ki-Moon visited the Svalbard Global Seed Vault together with the Norwegian Minister of Food and Agriculture, Lars Peder Brekk, and the Minister of Environment, Erik Solheim. He gave a short but very positive statement where he commended the parties behind the Seed Vault: the Norwegian government, the Global Crop Diversity Trust and NordGen. for taking the initiative to a seed bank that today holds seeds from all countries of the world. Ban Ki-Moon calls the Seed Vault a gift to humanity and symbol of peace will continue to inspire and serve for generations to come. |
